The Centre of European Studies of the University of Economics, Prague (CES), was founded on 1st January 1996 in connection with the Czech Republic's preparation for its entry into the European Union, as an institution providing information and counselling, and co-ordinating university activities related to European issues. Working on an inter-disciplinary basis, it is concerned with European problems in the sphere of economics, politics, law, history, culture, and languages.  Through its work, carried out as a part of the main and additional activities of the Faculty of International Relations, the Centre endeavours to promote ideas of European unity.

Mission of CES:

to provide consultancy and technical support in the process of formulating the contents of study programmes and courses dealing with European Studies,

to strive to obtain foreign and domestic grants and with their help, as well as through publications and other forms, to stimulate the research of European issues,

within the partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, to organise events for teachers and students as well as for the general public and experts (conferences, lectures, discussions, seminars, etc.),

to disseminate information about the processes of European integration and also about the Centre's own activities, both domestically and abroad.

2) in the framework of additional university activities
