Mission

Mission of the Centre of European Studies

The Centre of European Studies of the Prague University of Economics and Business (CES), was founded on 1st January 1996 in connection with the Czech Republic’s preparation for its entry into the European Union, as an institution providing information and counselling, and co-ordinating university activities related to European issues. Working on an inter-disciplinary basis, it is concerned with European problems in the sphere of economics, politics, law, history, culture, and languages.  Through its work, carried out as a part of the main and additional activities of the Faculty of International Relations, the Centre endeavours to promote ideas of European unity.

Mission of CES:

1) within main university activities

cooperate with academics and University authorities on development of studying programmes and classes in European Studies,

to provide consultancy and technical support in the process of formulating the contents of study programmes and courses dealing with European Studies,

to strive to obtain foreign and domestic grants and with their help, as well as through publications and other forms, to stimulate the research of European issues,

within the partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, to organise events for teachers and students as well as for the general public and experts (conferences, lectures, discussions, seminars, etc.),

to disseminate information about the processes of European integration and also about the Centre’s own activities, both domestically and abroad.

2) in the framework of additional university activities

to provide organisational backup for specialised and training courses for civil servants, teachers and entrepreneurs,

to carry out its own research work and in its perimeter to co-operate with foreign academic and research institutions selected for such a purpose by relevant EU programmes.
